Projects
Projects are the primary containers for organizing your research, data, and collaborative efforts. Every asset you create—whether it is a dataset, a cohort, or a notebook—exists within the context of a specific project.
Understanding Organizations and Projects
The platform structure is hierarchical, consisting of Organizations and Projects:
- Organizations: These are managed entirely by the platform. Users cannot create or modify organizations manually.
- Projects: Projects are always scoped to a particular Organization. When you first sign in, the platform automatically creates a default organization and a default project for you, labeled "Personal workspace."
IMPORTANT
Always be mindful of your current project context. Assets created in one project are not available in another. Conversely, any asset created within a project is immediately visible to all project collaborators.
Managing Projects
The project selector in the Toolbar allows you to switch between existing workspaces or create new ones.
Creating a Project
When you create a new project (via the plus icon in the project selector), you are automatically assigned the Admin role. During creation, you must specify the Organization it belongs to and provide a unique Project name.
Project Settings and Collaboration
If you are an Admin, you can access the Project Settings (via the gear icon in the project selector) to manage the lifecycle of the workspace:
- Rename or Delete: Modify the project title or permanently remove the project.
- Member Management: Invite collaborators by email and assign them roles.
- Organization Access: If you invite a user to a project within an organization they do not yet belong to, they are automatically added as a member of that organization.
Roles and Permissions
Collaborators can be assigned one of two roles:
- Admin: Full access to the project, including renaming the project, managing members, and deletion. Note that the last Admin cannot be removed from a project.
- Member: Can view, create, and modify all assets within the project but cannot manage members or delete the project itself.
Across all roles, all collaborators can see all project assets (datasets, workflows, etc.). The only exception are Assistant conversations and private Sources, which remain private to the individual user.
